Diseases related to the heart and the vascular system start developing in our bodies years before we can actually see the symptoms. WYHF - India believes that spreading awareness about how our lifestyle can affect cardiovascular health in the long run and ways to modify it in order to lead a healthier life.
The spread of awareness needs to be supplemented by making cardiovascular healthcare more accessible to all. This will help us combat the massive burden cardiovascular diseases put on the healthcare system. We envision working on simpler and more practical interventions which could help us to reach everyone. Making various necessary services accessible with the support of other stakeholders is what we wish to achieve. This needs inter sectoral collaboration of enthusiasts working in the varied fields.
India is home to a large fraction of hypertensive patients but it lacks qualitative data needed to set our own standards for high blood pressure. According to a recent study 33% urban and 25% rural Indians are hypertensive. Along with this a large number of individuals are unaware about their hypertensive status which leads to complications in the long term. These can be avoided with early detection and intervention. We need a holistic approach to tackle this situation.
